New York passed the Solar Industry Development and Jobs Act, which creates a market for solar energy development throughout New York. The bill requires the state to develop 5,000 megawatts of solar energy capacity by 2025. It also requires all the state’s electrical utilities to increase the amount of solar power in their energy portfolios every year, reaching a minimum of 2.5% by 2025.
