Job Information

The Project Development Director will develop commercial turnkey PV system projects. Responsibilities will include developing projects from inception through contract execution. The Project Development Director must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and be able to create and develop projects primarily through their own independent activities including cold calls, existing business networks and other marketing strategies.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and secure contracts for commercial and public segments for projects 250 kW and greater to meet annual sales goals
  • Work with RGS financial partners to determine project financing
  • Schedule and perform customer on-site solar evaluations as required
  • Work independently and with senior management team to develop and execute on strategic plans to win identified opportunities
  • Prepare and present accurate and professional proposals
  • Gather market intelligence and expand relationships with appropriate government, regulatory, and utility officials to understand project approval process
  • Generate proposals, quotes, and formal RFP responses
  • Work with operations to negotiate contract terms and close transactions
  • Assist with development of necessary financial models and assist with tax, financing, and regulatory related research and negotiations
  • Assist with identification of the most appropriate technical and material solutions to optimize system competitiveness
  • Actively network, develop, manage and qualify new leads and engage the PV market to support sales goals and objectives

 
Essential Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years sales experience minimum in photovoltaic sales, commercial experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience with Salesforce.com preferred
  • Understanding of finance/business concepts (NPV, ROI, IRR, etc.)
  • Experience as a project developer in a related field strongly preferred, including energy or real estate development
  • Successful track record in a complex sales environment, with energy experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and interface effectively with cross-functional employee groups
  • Ability to spend time in person with customers and travel within assigned territory
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with customers, work with a team, and drive results
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and prioritize competing demands
  • Independence and self-motivation, and the ability to thrive under pressure
  • Ability to assess, solve, implement, and communicate outcomes of problems
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
